MINI INSTRUMENTS MINALARM 7-10 AND RADEYE AREA MONITORS
Product News

Thermo Fisher Scientific has a wide range of permanently mounted radiation area alarm monitors. But there are a two in their range which are very popular.

Both the MinAlarm 7-10 and RadEye Area Monitors are widely used because they are simple to operate and easy to install.

MinAlarm 7-10

Mini Instruments started production of MinAlarm 7-10 over 20 years ago and now is a reliable performer in the Thermo Fisher Scientific stable.

It is a work horse that just keeps operating. It is powered from mains power, features a logarithmic analogue dial along with audible and visual alarms.

The MinAlarm 7-10 is a simple and rugged instrument that is extremely easy to use.

Automatic fail safe checks on the MinAlarm 7-10 include a probe failure alarm, check function for both the internal circuit and the alarm, and an internal lead acid battery to provide backup power in the case of a mains failure.

Its versatility is enhanced through the wide range of probes that can be used with it. Two of the most commonly used probes are the MC70 and MC10A.

MC70 Probe

This is a GM probe scaled over 0.05 to 75 µSv/hr and an energy range of 55 Kev to 1.25 MeV.

MC10A Probe

The MC10A probe enables the meter to be scaled over a range of 0.5 to 5000 µSv/hr and has a useful energy range from 45 Kev to 1.25 MeV.

RadEye Area Monitor

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s RadEye Area Monitor is a much newer radiation area alarm monitoring device.

The RadEye Area Monitor is a highly sensitive wall mountable area radiation detection system.

Any of the RadEye range of hand held radiation detectors can be used with it. They are simply plugged into the socket inside the monitor. The RadEye Area Monitor provides continuous power to the RadEye radiation detector being  used and incorporates audible and visual alarms.

The RadEye radiation detector can quickly be removed from the RadEye Area Monitor for use as a hand held instrument to locate the source of the radiation.

The major advantage with the RadEye Area Monitor is the wide range of different RadEye radiation detectors available. This makes it remarkably flexible area alarm monitor giving you the following features:

  • Area monitoring and flexible handheld monitoring in a single instrument.
  • There is no need for an additional handheld instrument for locating the source.
  • Continued operation in case of power failure, due to rechargeable batteries and built-in battery charger.
  • On board data logging by the RadEye radiation detector. Historical data can be easily reviewed using the RadEye's optional Bluetooth battery cover adaptor, or desktop holder with IR interface and a suitable PC.
  • Simultaneous gamma and neutron monitoring with a single instrument when used with the RadEye GN.
  • Automatic spectroscopic identification of isotopes when used with the RadEye SPRD spectroscopic identifier.
