Availability of Electra and FH40-G Survey Meters

ELECTRA AND FH40-G RADIATION SURVEY METERS
Product News

Both the Electra and FH40-G Survey Meters are available through ADM Nuclear Technologies.

Over the years Thermo Scientific has developed a wide range of radiation monitoring instrumentation.

However their growth in this field has also been through a variety of acquisitions, which have included companies such as Eberline and Mini Instruments.

Through these various acquisitions a number of products have been acquired and have proven to be highly successful. However often it means that there are almost two very similar products in Thermo Scientific’s portfolio. Two such examples are the Electra and the FH40.

The Electra and FH40 are two examples of radiation detection devices, which are gradually being replaced with the new RadEye GX and RadEye SX radiation survey meters, although not entirely.

The FH40 (now the Thermo Scientific FH40-G) has proven to be a work horse and has been favoured by the Defence Department over many years, with its ability to be used with a variety of probes and its option of an internal GM tube.

The simplicity and ease of use of the FH40-G has made it the preferred instrument of many radiation workers around the world. It can be used with a variety of probes:

  • Alpha Probes
  • Beta Probes
  • Alpha Beta Probes
  • Gamma Probes

The Electra is another instrument that is very similar to the FH40 and has also had a great deal of acceptance.

It is a digital microprocessor based rate meter, which is compatible with most GM and scintillation survey probes and can be calibrated with an external probe for direct readout of dose rate or count rate.

The Electra was one of the first instruments available with internal data logging capabilities and the ability to be used with a wide variety of probes. It also comes with the option of an internal GM tube. This makes it very useful for measuring dose rates without having to disconnect its external probe.

Both of these radiation detection instruments are gradually being phased out and replaced with the Thermo RadEye SX and RadEye GX radiation survey meters, both of which can be used with the above external probes.  They also give you improved communication and data logging capabilities and are far more compact.

But for a few customers the Electra and FH40 are still favoured instruments and are still available through ADM.
